A Hysteresis Approach to Phase--eld Models

چکیده

Phase-eld systems as mathematical models to forecast the evolution of processes involving phase transitions have drawn a considerable interest in recent years. However, while they are capable of capturing many of the experimentally observed phenomena, they are only of restricted value in modelling hysteresis eeects occuring during phase transition processes. To overcome this shortcoming, a new approach to phase-eld models is proposed in this paper which is based on the mathematical theory of hysteresis operators developed in the past fteen years. The approach taken here leads to highly nonlinearly coupled systems of diierential equations containing hysteretic nonlinearities at diierent places. For such a system, well-posedness and thermodynamic consistency are proved. Due to the lack of smoothness (hysteresis operators are, as a rule, non-diierentiable) in the system, the method of proof has to be diierent from those usually employed for classical phase-eld systems.

Hysteresis loop areas in kinetic Ising models : E ects of the switching mechanism

Experiments on ferromagnetic thin lms have measured the dependence of the hysteresis loop area on the amplitude and frequency of the external eld, A=A(H 0 ; !), and approximate agreement with numerical simulations of Ising models has been reported. Here we present numerical and theoretical calculations of A in the low-frequency regime for two values of H 0 , which bracket a temperature and syst...

Reversible hysteresis loop tuning

We utilize antiferromagnetically coupled bilayer structures to magnetically tune hysteresis loop properties. Key element of this approach is the non-overlapping switching fi eld distribution of the two magnetic layers that make up the system: a hard magnetic CoPtCrB layer (HL) and a soft magnetic CoCr layer (SL). Both layers are coupled antiferromagnetically through an only 0.6-nm-thick Ru inte...

Hysteresis in Ferromagnets

We study the scaling of the area of hysteresis loops in ferromagnetic N-vector models with short-ranged spin-isotropic interactions, as a function of the amplitude and frequency of the external magnetic eld.

Dynamic Performance Analysis of Hysteresis Motors by a Linear Time-Varying Model

Hysteresis motors are self starting brushless synchronous motors which are being used widely due to their interesting features. Accurate modeling of the motors is crucial to successful investigating the dynamic performance of them. The hysteresis loops of the material used in the rotor and their influences on the parameters of the equivalent circuit are necessary to be taken into considerat...

Hysteresis: Phenomenon and Modeling in Soil- Water Relationship

Hysteresis has been widely recognized in the soil water relationship. In this paper, a detailed review of hysteresis was performed in relation to its models. So far, different models have been suggested to describe hysteresis in the water retention curve (WRC) that could be categorized into two main groups: conceptual and empirical models. The models in the first group are based on the domain t...
